Andrew Shook
Principal CEO
Andrew Shook, the founder and CEO of Sunrise Trading, has built a global coffee trading company with deep roots in the heart of the Peruvian high jungle. His work is driven by a unique blend of formal training and hands-on, real-world expertise. He holds a Bachelor's of Business with a concentration in International Business, and is a qualified paramedic with a specialization in wilderness medicine. Andrew is also a proud member of Mensa and an honorary member of Gamma Theta Upsilon, the International Honorary Geographers' Society, credentials that underscore his rigorous approach and intellectual curiosity.
Based in Oxapampa, Pasco, Peru, Andrew’s work is grounded in direct, on-the-ground relationships with the cultivators who nurture Sunrise Trading's exceptional beans. His extensive experience in international business and his personal commitment to the land inform every partnership, ensuring that each coffee bean not only meets stringent quality standards but also embodies a story of mutual respect and community empowerment.
Andrew’s dedication to the land and its people is evident in his actions. He co-founded an NGO to combat deforestation and has been instrumental in organizing and delivering lifesaving medical equipment and supplies to remote jungle outposts in partnership with Project C.U.R.E. This commitment to community, from the Yanesha Comunidad Nativa Tsachopen to the clinics of Gramazu, is a cornerstone of Sunrise Trading’s mission.

Tracy Velita
Director of South America
Tracy Velita is a Certified Public Accountant with a specialization in Project Management
Tracy was born in the Oxapampa Valley of Peru. She comes from a strong family of coffee farmers, and she has a deep understanding of the coffee industry. She is skilled in the physical and sensory analysis of coffee, and she is passionate about ensuring that coffee is grown in harmony with nature.
Sunrise Trading LLC has an office in Peru, where Tracy oversees the coffee procurement process. She works with coffee farmers to ensure that the coffee is of the highest quality. She also monitors the coffee farms from harvest to selection, and she educates farmers on how to grow coffee in a sustainable way.
Tracy has previously worked for a United Nations agency, the Ministry of the Environment, and the Ministry of Housing, among other institutions. She has extensive experience in the administration of environmental projects.

Tracy is a nature lover. She believes that "without forests and without coffee, there is no life.""Being in the jungle, working with these incredible farms under the canopy, that's where I feel most at home," Andrew shares. His background as a certified paramedic with wilderness medical training has fostered a strong connection to these remote communities. This commitment extends to Sunrise Trading's dedication to sustainable practices. "If the soil doesn't feel right, if it has been treated with chemicals, we look elsewhere," he explains, emphasizing the importance of organic and sustainable cultivation.
Beyond sourcing great coffee, Andrew is deeply invested in giving back. He finds fulfillment in providing medical equipment to remote outposts in the Amazon rainforest. This dedication to supporting the communities that grow the coffee reflects his genuine connection to the land and its people.
