A Community in Focus: Delivering Vital Supplies to Puerto Bermúdez

Puerto Bermúdez, Perú – November 4, 2023 – Our work at Sunrise Trading is built on a deep devotion to the communities that make our exceptional coffees possible. We were honored to be a part of a vital mission: the donation of essential medical supplies to the Micro Red de Salud in the Puerto Bermúdez District.

This delivery was made possible through a partnership with Project C.U.R.E., a non-profit organization that provides medical supplies and equipment to developing countries.

A Mission of Support

The donation was delivered by representatives of Sunrise Trading to Obst. Luis Alberto Pimentel, El Jefe de Micro Red. He was joined by a dedicated team of medical professionals: Blga. Gabriela Romani Bottger, Lic. Enfermera Leydi Diana Varela Enriquez, Dr. Jair Monja Ramirez, Flor Paredes Velásquez, and Yoselin Tolentino Cruz. The area faces significant health challenges, including high levels of Anemia in children, Tuberculosis, Diabetes, Hyperlipidemia, and Hypertension.

The Journey Ahead

While the donation was gratefully received, the Micro Red has requested additional essential equipment to help them provide comprehensive care. The needs include:

Microscope
Hemo Control Analyzer
Cholesterol Analyzer
Glucometers
Defibrillators (AED)
N95 masks

Sunrise Trading believes that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare. We are proud to partner with Project C.U.R.E. and play a role in improving the lives of the people in the Puerto Bermúdez District. Pacha Glow shines bright

We roasted Pacha Glow for both use in both pour over and through a Moccamaster. Both instances were clean bright and led to a few very productive mornings.

Our roast was what we consider a true medium roast, it came out of the roaster with an incredible bouquet, filling the room with a sweet, cocoa-vanilla fragrance.

It was smoothly bold, had good mouthfeel and lightly fruity finish.

Sapa Sunlight

After speaking with Andrew and being assured by him that we would definitely be able to do something with this bean for our business we ordered and got 55 pounds coming, after it arrived we started working with it roasting it at different charge temps as well as different drop temps , The results were a great cold brew roast that delivered a great brightness with notes of citrus , floral and hints of stone fruits, we also worked with it for a hot cup also, we found it to be at best at a city+ roast, The aroma still carried a floral while the taste was nutty and hints of plum, Great care should be given to not over roast ,we found that it will lose flavor really quick, we have all agreed here at Silverrun coffee crafters that this Bean will make a great addition to our lineup that we already have….

Great cupp to start your day

Upon opening the bag the first time the aroma of the beans is very pleasant. I slow roast using a Fresh Roast SR800 and so far have roasted one and a half pounds. Of these I did one pound to a Vienna roast and the half pound to full City +. I mostly drink the Vienna and my wife enjoys the full city +. I use a Keurig with the reusable filter adapter for making my coffee. The roasted beans are kept in a sealed glass jar and kept in a cool dark place. I grind daily what is needed to make 2 cups for me each morning. The coffee is smooth and is very tasty with hints of chocolate and honey.

High Manco is an exceptional coffee!

As with all Sunrise Trading's offerings High Manco exceeds expectations! Roasted as a "City Roast" it is bold and sweet and makes an exceptional cup via Pour Over or as Espresso. Balanced and accessible it makes a perfect "first thing in the morning" Cup!

Very smooth

This coffe so far seems to be very smooth, and flavorful. I don't have a very great roasting setup so it's difficult for me to achieve the exact light roast I prefer. Im still using a air popper after several years. Though im able to get a somewhat even light to light medium. This coffee and most all of the Peruvian coffees in my opinion are very forgiving as far as still letting the natural flavors of the coffee come through and not just tasting the roast notes. So far sunrise trading Peruvian coffees hands down my favorite. Hopefully I'll get a better roaster soon. I can only imagine how great the potential of these coffees is.

Taste of heaven

There is a huge difference when you toast green coffee fresh I make a ritual of toasting two batches every Sunday 200 grams each and that will give me enough coffee to enjoy the whole week. I use a stainless steel pan and a wire beater, you don’t need to spend thousands in a machine to toast coffee, if you don’t believe watch Gordon Ramsey in Jordan enjoying the best coffee of his life in the middle of the dessert with some cardamom..
But is also very important the quality of the coffee and I found this coffee like a little taste of heaven to be enjoy here on earth so go ahead order and prepare yourself for a wonderful experience

Why I am a 3 Time repeat buyer

I build crop nutrition for a living with that mindset comes the understanding how nutrition, along with altitude, amount of sunlight, relationships in micronutrients set the stage for flavors. When my sons asked what I wanted for Father's Day 20 years ago, I thought and answered, raw coffee beans. Since then I have acquired many different brand from around the world and studied their backgrounds in the roasting that would bring out uniqueness in flavonoids and oils.
I usually roast in cast-iron pans or cast-iron woks. My preference is around a steady 400 degrees and stirring occasionally to maintain evenness in roasting. I will watch for the oils to reach the surface and the cracking. Wooden spoons or gently shaking the pans maintains consistency. I had to brother in laws up one weekend with each of us having a set of beans to roast as we visited and caught up on families. Typical guys, this turned into a contest of who facilitated the least acid/bitter cup of coffee for the morning breakfast.
Typically I will roast each batch individually and then formulate my own blends like tinkering with nutrition to check out how each input affects the final product.
I have been impressed with the quality of information on the growers, climate, altitude, amount of shade, method of preparation in the beans I buy. Quick shipping, fair pricing and knowing I have a connection to the growers and rewarding them for their care in raising my favorite drink.

Really good coffee

I'm just starting out as a home roaster, so my roasting method was simple and primitive. I used a cast iron skillet to roast the beans and to my delight they came out great. I tasted notes of roasted pecans and stone fruit. The acidity was very mild and bright. I will be buying these beans again.
