  • Grade 1

Our Peruvian green coffee beans are carefully processed and graded to meet the highest standards, including Grade 1 specifications, ensuring exceptional quality and cup consistency for discerning roasters.
  • Geography

Pasco, Peru, located in the central highlands, presents a compelling region for coffee cultivation. Characterized by a rugged Andean topography, Pasco experiences significant altitudinal variation, a key factor in coffee quality. The region's eastern slopes, descending towards the Amazon basin, feature a humid, subtropical climate with consistent rainfall, ideal for Arabica cultivation. These areas, particularly in the Oxapampa province, exhibit a complex mosaic of microclimates due to varying elevations and aspects, creating diverse terroirs. The interplay of altitude, rainfall, and temperature gradients contributes to the distinct flavor profiles of Oxapampa's coffee. Geographically, the region's coffee farms are often situated on steep slopes, requiring specialized cultivation techniques and impacting soil erosion patterns. The region's accessibility, infrastructure, and the socioeconomic dynamics of coffee-producing communities are also critical factors influencing the sustainability and expansion of coffee cultivation in Pasco.
  • Relax

In the realm of sophisticated lounges, where patrons seek premium, artisanal experiences, Sunrise Trading's Peruvian coffee stands unparalleled. Ethically sourced, ecological shade-grown beans offer a distinct, complex flavor profile that will elevate any establishment.

Curated Selections for You

FAQ · Connecting with You:

Rainforest to Cup

Sunrise Trading is a bridge between the vibrant Peruvian rainforest and your cup. We believe in ethically sourced, shade-grown coffee that delivers exceptional flavor and also honors the environment and the communities that cultivate it.

Our commitment to sustainable practices is reflected in the methods our group of farmers employ, transforming each bean from its humble beginnings to your coffee experience.

Nurturing the Rainforest:
Sunrise Trading’s coffee is found in the lush, verdant forests of the Peruvian High Jungle. Our cultivators, many of whom are members of the Yanesha Indigenous Community, understand the delicate balance of the rainforest and its importance. They embrace a philosophy of sustainable cultivation:

Shade-Grown Practices:
Coffee beans thrive in the shade of the rainforest canopy, providing natural protection and a balanced microclimate. This practice protects the ecosystem and ensures the long-term sustainability of the land.

Organic Cultivation:
Our farmers prioritize organic methods, without the use of harmful pesticides and fertilizers, safeguarding the soil and the environment. This ensures a healthier rainforest and enhances the natural flavor of the beans.

Respect for Tradition:
These practices reflect the Yanesha community's deep connection to the land, their respect for their ancestors, and their commitment to sustainable practices passed down through generations.

From Cherry to Cup:
Once the coffee cherries are hand-picked, by qualified selectors, they are carefully processed using a variety of traditional methods, each contributing to the unique flavor profile of each coffee:

Washed Process: The beans are carefully cleaned, fermented, and dried to remove the fruit pulp, creating a clean and bright flavor with delicate acidity.

Natural Process: The cherries are dried in the sun, allowing the mucilage to ferment and develop a sweeter, richer flavor.

Honey Process: This method involves partially drying the beans with the mucilage, resulting in a unique combination of sweetness, acidity, and complex flavor notes.

The Journey Continues:
After the coffee beans are dried to a precise humidity level, they are sorted and graded to a Grade 1 standard, to ensure consistency and quality. They are then packed in airtight GrainPro® Hermetic Bags™, ensuring optimal freshness and preserving the unique flavor profiles.

Sunrise Trading is committed to sourcing with dedicated farmers who share our passion for quality and sustainability. The Andes whisper their secrets. This exceptional Peruvian coffee embodies the rainforest's beauty, its vibrant communities, and the artistry of coffee cultivation, a journey for your senses.

Understanding the Flavors of Our Coffee

Here's how we declare the flavor in our Peruvian coffees without adding anything artificial:

The journey begins with a cupping ceremony, where our expert taste testers brew samples, their senses heightened by the ancient spirits of the Andes. They inhale the aroma, a symphony of scents that whisper tales of fruit, chocolate, spice, or flowers - all naturally occurring flavors in the coffee cherry, nurtured by the rainforest. Then, the taste unfolds, a dance of sweetness, acidity, and complexity, each note attributed to the delicate balance of the rainforest.

Using a special flavor wheel, a map of taste, our graders pinpoint the unique notes in each cup. Is it a hint of citrus, a touch of caramel, or a whisper of spice? They compare and contrast, their palates trained to discern the subtlest nuances, all born from the coffee cherry.

The process involves multiple graders working together to reach a consensus on the flavor profile. They document their discoveries in tasting notes, a detailed description of the coffee's unique character, a celebration of the artistry of coffee farming, and a commitment to sharing Peruvian coffee with the world.

While flavor perception is subjective, our certified graders constantly refine their skills and knowledge, expanding their understanding of coffee flavors through ongoing training and cupping sessions.

It's a skilled task, requiring a trained palate and a deep understanding of the nuances of coffee flavors to capture the essence of each cup.

This is how Sunrise Trading reveals the flavor of Peruvian coffee! ☕️

Roasting 101: Sunrise Trading's Tips for Beginner Roasters.

We're excited you're venturing into the world of roasting your beans. It's a rewarding journey that unlocks a new level of coffee appreciation.

Here's a breakdown of how to get started:

Choose Your Roaster:

Home Roasters: Many affordable home roasters are available, ranging from basic air roasters to more sophisticated drum roasters. Do some research to find the best fit for your budget and needs.

Professional Roasters: If you're serious about roasting or plan to roast larger quantities, consider working with a local coffee roaster or a commercial roaster.

Learn the Basics:

Roast Levels: Familiarize yourself with different roast levels, such as light, medium, medium-dark, and dark, and their corresponding flavor profiles.

Roasting Profiles: Understand the concept of roast profiles and how to interpret them. A roast profile is a guide that outlines the time and temperature settings for a specific roast level.

Practice Makes Perfect:

Start Small: Begin with a small batch of beans to get a feel for the roasting process.

Observe and Adjust: Pay close attention to the color, sounds (like "first crack"), and aroma of the beans as they roast.

Experiment: Don't be afraid to experiment with different roast levels and profiles to find your preferences.

Safety First:

Ventilation: Always roast your coffee beans in a well-ventilated area to avoid smoke buildup.

Fire Safety: Be aware of the fire hazards associated with roasting and take necessary precautions.

Enjoy the Journey:

Freshness: Roasted coffee beans are at their best when freshly brewed. For the most flavorful experience, enjoy your roasted coffee within a week or two.
